PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
We were pretty excited when we first came across Shell on Earth. As keen (obsessive?) plant growers, both indoors and out, we're always on the look out for innovative new products which will aid us in our constant need of re-potting plants.
Shell On Earth piqued our interest for a couple of reasons. Firstly, their products are a pretty great alternative to grit or small pebbles that can be used as both a drainage layer, or a decorative topper (or mixed in with your soil if you need a grittier soil for sucuulents for example). Secondly, these make a natural weed and pest repellent, marvelous news for anyone trying to grow veg (or hostas...) in this county not normally known for hot, dry weather. And thirdly the whelk shells used to make Shell on Earth are a bi-product from the whelk industry in Wales. It's estimated over 5000 tonnes of waste shells are generated by the fishing industry each year. Shell on Earth contribute nothing towards that. Any non shell organic waste they have is turned into biofuel. And you know how we love a bit of sustainability!
Each small sized hand tied paper bag of whelk shells contains approx 3kg of shells, with the mini bag and super crush (finely rushed shells) containing approx 1kg. We use them a lot with our house plants, particularly smaller ones and cacti, but they are suitable for use with all plants.

BUT WHO ARE WE?
Albert & Moo was set up in 2017 by Lianne Westwood after a 20 year career working for numerous other E-commerce brands and websites (including a four year stint at Amazon UK). In 2016 she did an interior design diploma, thinking she wanted a career change, but instead she had an idea for her very own website blending her knowledge of retail, her love of interiors and a passion to support small, independent brands. A year later Albert & Moo was born. It was named after her (at the time) pet bearded dragons.
Now in its ninth year, and following a relocation from London to Suffolk, Albert & Moo is still run by Lianne, but she sometimes has help from her five year old daughter (!), and her love of interiors has spread to include all things plants and gardening.
All orders are packed by Lianne herself from her garden studio and are plastic free (unless reusing the bubble wrap stock arrives in). She is eternally grateful for every single order. Genuinely, thank you.
WHY SHOP SMALL?
You've heard the saying about small business owners doing a happy dance every time they get an order. It's true! Every order we recieve genuinely puts a smile on our face and we pack your order with much love and attention.
There's also a statistic about how more of your money goes back into the local economy rather than lining a shareholders pockets. We very much practice what we preach and try to support other small business as much as we can, shopping almost exclusively with other indies and B Corps (plus a fair bit of pre-loved). So you supporting us, means we can support them. Win win!
