Interior Design Schemes: Pink & Brown Kids Room

A new series on the blog, I thought I'd do a few quick interior design schemes featuring some products stocked in the shop and hopefully giving you some inspiriation for any interior changes you are planning to make in the process.
Now, to clarify these have been done quickly - 10 minutes or so. Normally I take much longer to find the perfect wallpaper or piece of furniture for clients, here I've just picked whatever I found first that fits the design I'd had an idea for. Paying clients get more than this! But I thought this would be a fun thing to add to the blog to see some of the products I stock in an overall interiors scheme, but also, to give you some ideas for changes you might want to make in your own home.
First up is a pretty, but not overly girly kids room design featuring three products from the shop:
The Pink/brown rainbow wall hanging 100 x 70cm was the start of the design. I really love this piece, it makes a real statement and the brown gives a bit of an edge to what otherwise could be a bit too pink and girly.
The Frilled Bird Cushion co-ordinates nicely with this, without being too matchy matchy which can leave rooms looking a bit flat.
Finally I've added one of the Happy Pots in pink, just because I love them and want to add them everywhere.
And then in terms of wallpaper and furniture I've added:
Wallpaper: Somerset Stripes from Annika Reed, £185. I was looking for a pink stripe as a place to start but liked that this also had the dark red which makes it less girly, and also the non straight edges, add more interest than a classic stripe.
Bed: Colette Children’s rattan headboard, 90 cm, Tika Moon, £89. It's always a good idea to add some wooden furniture (or other natural materials to a room, otherwise it can look a bit too show homey and boring. The same goes for vintage. And whilst this isn't strictly wood, or vintage, it is rattan which is very vintag inspired and will do the same thing.
Desk: Boori Kids' Natty Desk and Chair Study Set, Cherry/Almond, John Lewis, £385. I wanted pink and I wanted something fun to remind us that this is a kids room and we don't want it becoming too serious. This does the job nicely.
Rug: Madeleine Abstract Recycled Cotton Rug, Ian Snow, from £99 I google pink and brown rugs and there were so many that would have been suitable. I chose this one because the little splash of yellow co-ordinated with the yellow in the wall hanging. If I was doing this design seriously I would be adding in a few more pops of yellow to tie the whole thing together.

I do hope you found this useful, let me know in the comments if there's a particular room or product you'd like to see.
