Interior Design Schemes: A Calming Pink & Green Bedroom

The second in the new series on the blog where I take a couple of products from the shop and build an interior design scheme around it. This week it is a pretty, calming, pink and green bedroom (and to reiterate, this is a very quickly designed scheme, the interior design services on offer have much more thought put into them!). But I hope this goes someway to inspiring you, and giving you some ideas to use in your own home.
First up is a very soft, pale pink wall colour, something along the lines of Calamine or Pink Ground by Farrow and Ball.
On the floor adding a good splash of green to the pink walls is the lovely Namda Spring Felted Rug by Birdie Fortescue (£295).
For furniture we have a darker wood giving an extra dimension to the scheme, with rattan elements to add texture, There is the Bed 04 by Swyft (£799), the Lisbeth wardrobe by Tikamoon (£1899), and then a vintage Thonet style rocking chair (try Vinterior).
Then from Albert & Moo is the Cherry Blossom print, by our favourite Suffolk artist, Brie Harrison (£15), and finally the Green Flower Drying Kit (£19.50).
This is such a great look for a bedroom - the pale pink on the walls is both calming but also slightly cocooning, looking both fresh in the summer and cosy in the winter. Green is also calming but has a slight energising quality to it, echoing the colours of nature. You may have heard of the 60-30-10 rule, which is a tried and tested way of putting a design scheme that will work together. Here you have the 60% as the pink on the wall (I'd colour drench and do the ceiling and woodwork in this too), the 30% is the dark wood tone, and then finally the 10% is the splashes of green in the rug and artwork. You could also add more green in the curtains and bedding. Finally, I always like to add very small pops of another colour (or the 10% could actually be two or three colours). Here there is a small smattering of blue with the green in the rug and artwork.
Overall it's a very pretty, co-ordinating design but with plenty of interest to stop it looking too flat.
